The rules of the road
The short version for kids; the grown-up version underneath. Both add up to the same thing — be kind, don't break stuff, your code is yours.

For kids
Be kind
If you wouldn't say it to a friend at school, don't say it here. No bullying, no mean nicknames, no scary stuff for the sake of it.
Your code is yours
Anything you write belongs to you. Tom isn't going to take it, sell it, or show it to anyone you don't share it with.
Don't try to break stuff
Don't try to crash the site, mess with other people's projects, or trick Ren into doing something weird. If you find a real bug, tell Tom — there's a thank-you.
Keep secrets secret
Don't paste your address, phone number, or anyone else's into Ren. She doesn't need them, and the message goes to a server.
Real names of real people
Don't pretend to be someone else, and don't put a real person's name in a project to make fun of them.
If something feels wrong
Tell a grown-up — yours, or Tom (tom@div.nz). Ren is a computer; if she says something weird or upsetting, that's a bug, not your fault.
For grown-ups
The same rules, written so a parent or lawyer would recognise them.
1. The service
Irenaverse is an invite-only educational service operated by Tom Peck in Wellington, New Zealand. By using it, you (or the grown-up consenting on behalf of a child under 16) agree to these terms and to our privacy policy.
2. Accounts
Accounts are issued via single-use invitations from an existing user. You're responsible for keeping your password to yourself. If you give your invite to someone else, they're using your account — be sure that's what you mean.
3. Your content
Code, project files, and game assets you create remain yours. You grant us the limited rights needed to store and display them inside the service. We don't claim ownership, won't relicense them, and won't show them to other users unless you explicitly share.
4. Acceptable use
Don't use Irenaverse to harass other users, post unlawful content, infringe copyright, attempt to compromise the service or its users, or to circumvent rate limits and AI safeguards. Don't share other people's personal information. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules, with notice where practical.
5. AI assistance
Ren is a Claude-powered coding buddy supplied by Anthropic. Her replies are generated; they can be wrong, incomplete, or occasionally surprising. Don't rely on AI output for anything safety-critical, and supervise children's use as you would any AI tool. See our privacy policy for what is and isn't shared with Anthropic.
6. Availability & changes
Irenaverse is a personal project; the service is provided on a reasonable-effort basis without SLA. Features may change, and we may add, remove, or alter functionality at any time. We'll give notice in-app for material changes that affect existing accounts.
7. Disclaimers & liability
The service is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. To the extent permitted by New Zealand law, our liability for any claim arising from your use of the service is capped at NZD $100, or the amount you've paid us in the prior twelve months, whichever is greater. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 that cannot lawfully be excluded.
8. Termination
You can delete your account at any time from your profile page; that removes your personal data and projects, subject to short backup-retention windows. We may terminate accounts that breach these terms, or wind down the service entirely with reasonable notice and an opportunity to export your work.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by New Zealand law. Any dispute will be brought in the courts of New Zealand.
